The house is in a beautiful location with stunning views over the estuary towards Fowey. The house is very comfortable to stay in with comfy seating and beds. There is plenty of space for 4 adults and a baby, who loved crawling around the downstairs. We are a family of 4 spending New Year 2020 at Providence House. Great spot with fabulous views from the lounge and bedrooms. You need to be fit and good walking to navigate the path to the house and up and down to the harbor. The ferry runs back and forth to Fowey even in winter. Lovely wood burner. As we were there in lockdown we spent alot of tiRead moreme in the house so the netflix and prime were a godsend. The walks along the coast are amazing. The house could do with some TLC though. Hide

Providence House was perfect for our family's short, winter getaway because, the reception rooms are well set up and comfy, with the most stunning views and sunlight. The kitchen is well-equipped and efficient. The bedrooms were really comfortable and the underfloor heating in the bathroom very cosy. An excellent location with easy access to the coRead moreastal path, the passenger ferry and great pub food. We would return in any season and would enjoy the views from various terraces in the summer. Hide

The ancient fishing village of Polruan lies just across the river from the delightful civil parish of Fowey, a bustling picturesque town packed with quirky coastal shops, art galleries and restaurants. Surrounded by some of the region’s most enchanting countryside, this pair of Cornish cousins have a truly magical feel about them. Polruan, with its steep hill and charming cottages looking down over the pretty harbour, and Fowey with its timeless maritime charm, are linked together by the Fowey Estuary, a haven of colourful sailing and fishing boats dotted about on the water.

A short drive away are the nearby harbours of East and West Looe with their quayside restaurants, sandy beaches and wildlife boat trips. The village of Polperro, with its fascinating smuggling history and horse pulled tram is a must-see and Charlestown, with its huge square sail ships is famously known as the key filming location for the hit TV series, Poldark. Children will love winding their way through the scenic coastal landscape with the Bodmin and Wenford Railway and for those brave enough, there is ample opportunity to hunt down the mysterious beast of Bodmin Moor.

The beautiful capital town of Truro with its magnificent cathedral and wide boulevards is just over an hour away by car and the newly redeveloped St Austell, home to the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan can be reached within forty-five minutes. Surrounded by gorgeous countryside and nature reserves, lakes and rivers, the area boasts some of the best sailing and watersports in the UK. If you are looking for somewhere remote and unspoilt, but with lots to keep you busy, Polruan is the perfect choice.
