Barney Cottage is the most beautifully decorated holiday home we have ever stayed in. A perfect location for cliff walks and we loved catching the ferry over to Fowey. The most relaxing holiday we have had.

What a wonderful stay at Barney Cottage. A beautiful cottage ideally located. The interior had everything we needed; the Ever Hot oven kept the cottage cosy in the damper days. We loved our stay at Barney Cottage. We were a party of 6 adults and there was plenty of room for all of us. This is a quaint cottage , in a great location. We used the cottage as a base and did loads of walking in the area. The local pub, The Lugger Arms, was friendly and the food was great. We would happily use this cottage again.

An excellent property in good condition, well looked-after and very well-equipped. The ancient fishing village of Polruan lies just across the river from the delightful civil parish of Fowey, a bustling picturesque town packed with quirky coastal shops, art galleries and restaurants. Surrounded by some of the region’s most enchanting countryside, this pair of Cornish cousins have a truly magical feel about them. Polruan, with its steep hill and charming cottages looking down over the pretty harbour, and Fowey with its timeless maritime charm, are linked together by the Fowey Estuary, a haven of colourful sailing and fishing boats dotted about on the water.

A short drive away are the nearby harbours of East and West Looe with their quayside restaurants, sandy beaches and wildlife boat trips. The village of Polperro, with its fascinating smuggling history and horse pulled tram is a must-see and Charlestown, with its huge square sail ships is famously known as the key filming location for the hit TV series, Poldark. Children will love winding their way through the scenic coastal landscape with the Bodmin and Wenford Railway and for those brave enough, there is ample opportunity to hunt down the mysterious beast of Bodmin Moor.

The beautiful capital town of Truro with its magnificent cathedral and wide boulevards is just over an hour away by car and the newly redeveloped St Austell, home to the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan can be reached within forty-five minutes. Surrounded by gorgeous countryside and nature reserves, lakes and rivers, the area boasts some of the best sailing and watersports in the UK. If you are looking for somewhere remote and unspoilt, but with lots to keep you busy, Polruan is the perfect choice.
