A cosy bolt hole, positioned right down in the heart of the village. Perfect for two people to share and take in the beautiful setting or a family break

This charming cottage over three floors is perched conveniently on Quay Hill in an excellent position just on the edge of the beautiful Fowey harbour with the village café, 2 pubs and local shop on your door step. Polruan still retains some of its original character as a working village with the traditional boatyard nearby. There are extensive views over the estuary across to Fowey. Polruan is steeped in history and benefits from two village pubs and a passenger ferry that will take you across to Fowey which is known as the centre of sailing. Further afield there are plenty of places to visit and things to do, why not visit the tall ships at Charlestown, take the brewery tour in St Austell or visit the Eden project. There are also numerous National Trust sites in Cornwall such as Lanhydrock in Bodmin.

Upon entering the cosy cottage, you will find yourself in the kitchen/dining area, fitted with double oven and ceramic hob, dishwasher, washing machine and a dining table which can seat up to four guests. From the kitchen, a feature spiral staircase leads down to a king-size bedroom with en-suite shower room, chest of drawers, two bedside cabinets with reading lights and a wardrobe. Meanwhile, on the second floor, you can find the lounge with a feature fireplace and plenty of comfy seating. There is a Smart TV however with the impressive views across the quay to Fowey, you may find that you don’t need it. Conveniently, there is a W/C with hand basin also on the second floor. Through an arched doorway from the lounge, you will find the second bedroom which has two 3' single beds, a chest of drawers and bed side lights. The access to this room is via a small low arched doorway ideally better suited to children but some adults may find it small but cosy.

Although there is no outside space at the cottage, the Coal Wharf  and Polruan Quay is just a few paces away from the cottage, where there is seating and picnic tables arranged to enjoy the wonderful scenery and activities that the river has to offer. Parking is available a few paces from the cottage directly across from the property alongside the harbour and also from the St Saviours and Quay car parks which is close by with the larger of the two car parks situated at the top of the village, approximately 10 minutes walk away; both have electric hook up charging points - Weekly tickets can be purchased for both car parks. there is a village bus available to transport should you wish to use it.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Lovely harbour setting. Narrow roads. Free car park is a half mile walk up a 17% gradient hill. Spiral staircase ,lost its appeal very quickly.

Cottage was great for us. The walk back up to the car tests even the fittest, so be aware. Also, if you like quiet lay-ins then forget it. Outside downstairs is like Piccadilly Circus from 0630 onwards. I'd also suggest those not cooking retire to the lounge, it is VERY cosy.

The ancient fishing village of Polruan lies just across the river from the delightful civil parish of Fowey, a bustling picturesque town packed with quirky coastal shops, art galleries and restaurants. Surrounded by some of the region’s most enchanting countryside, this pair of Cornish cousins have a truly magical feel about them. Polruan, with its steep hill and charming cottages looking down over the pretty harbour, and Fowey with its timeless maritime charm, are linked together by the Fowey Estuary, a haven of colourful sailing and fishing boats dotted about on the water.

A short drive away are the nearby harbours of East and West Looe with their quayside restaurants, sandy beaches and wildlife boat trips. The village of Polperro, with its fascinating smuggling history and horse pulled tram is a must-see and Charlestown, with its huge square sail ships is famously known as the key filming location for the hit TV series, Poldark. Children will love winding their way through the scenic coastal landscape with the Bodmin and Wenford Railway and for those brave enough, there is ample opportunity to hunt down the mysterious beast of Bodmin Moor.

The beautiful capital town of Truro with its magnificent cathedral and wide boulevards is just over an hour away by car and the newly redeveloped St Austell, home to the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan can be reached within forty-five minutes. Surrounded by gorgeous countryside and nature reserves, lakes and rivers, the area boasts some of the best sailing and watersports in the UK. If you are looking for somewhere remote and unspoilt, but with lots to keep you busy, Polruan is the perfect choice.
