Property code: PC046

This charming cottage, set over three floors is perched conveniently on Quay Hill in an excellent position in the heart of the bustling village just on the edge of the beautiful Fowey harbour with the village café, 2 pubs and local shop on your door step. Polruan still retains all of its original character as a working village with the traditional boatyard nearby which dates back to the Armada. There are extensive views over the estuary across to Fowey. Polruan is steeped in history and benefits from two village pubs and a passenger ferry that will take you across to Fowey which is known as the centre of sailing. Further afield there are plenty of places to visit and things to do, why not visit the tall ships at Charlestown, take the brewery tour in St Austell or visit the Eden project. There are also numerous National Trust sites in Cornwall such as Lanhydrock in Bodmin.

Upon entering the cosy cottage, you will find yourself in the open plan kitchen/dining area, fitted with double oven and ceramic hob, dishwasher, washing machine and a dining table which can seat up to four guests. From the kitchen, a feature spiral staircase leads down to a king-size bedroom with en-suite shower room, chest of drawers, two bedside cabinets with reading lights and a wardrobe. Meanwhile, on the second floor, you can find the lounge with a feature fireplace and plenty of comfy seating. There is a Smart TV however with the impressive views across the quay to Fowey, you may find that you don’t need it. Conveniently, there is a W/C with hand basin also on the second floor. Through a low, arched doorway from the lounge, you will find the second bedroom which has two 3' single beds, a chest of drawers and bed side lights. The access to this room is via a small low arched doorway ideally better suited to children however some adults may find it small but cosy.

Although there is no outside space at the cottage, the Coal Wharf  and Polruan Quay is just a stones throw away from the cottage, where there is seating and picnic tables arranged to enjoy the wonderful scenery and activities that the river has to offer. Parking is available near to the cottage alongside the harbour, though this can get busy, and also from the St Saviours and Quay car parks which are further up the hill with the larger of the two car parks situated at the top of the village, approximately 10 minutes walk away; both have electric hook up charging points - Weekly tickets can be purchased for both car parks. there is a village bus available to transport should you wish to use it. feel free to unload outside the property.

  • 2 bedrooms: Ground floor 1 king-size and 2nd floor twin bedroom
  • Sleeps 2+2
  • Please note the head height in twin bedroom is low and care must be taken
  • En-suite shower room on ground floor and separate WC on top floor
  • Double electric oven, ceramic hob, fridge, dishwasher, washing machine
  • Smart TV
  • Village bus available to transport up and down the hill
  • Babes in arms welcome but regret no children under 5 - due to open spiral staircase and bedrooms being 2 floors apart.
  • Please note that there is an open tread staircase up to the first floor
  • Polruan is a quaint little village situated on a very steep hill, so access to some parts of the village can be challenging.
  • Many of the amenities, ferries and cottages in Polruan are accessed via steps/slopes some of which can be steep. Please contact us if you have specific requirements.
  • There are many small winding streets that are not suitable for cars, therefore many properties in Polruan do not have private parking. However, there is a large pay and display carpark at the top of the village.
  • You are able to park directly outside the cottage for  short time to unload and pick up
  • Parking available in 3 local car parks one of which is located directly across from the cottage along side the harbour, the other two are located at the top and middle of the hill - charges apply
  • This property will be decorated for Christmas
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 2 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week
  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £200 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £25. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

Lovely cottage over three floors, close to the beach and foot ferry. Our dog did NOT like the spiral stair to the master bedroom - her loss! Management team were on hand for any queries we had. Our son loved the "tunnel" through the low door to the twin room to what he called his "Den". It was also a lovely touch to get a call from the owner prior Read moreto arriving to let us know local info about access, parking and suchlike - I grew up in Polruan, so knew what to expect but most folks wouldn't. Lovely little cottage overlooking the quay in quaint little village. The only downside is there is no parking and to get to your car in the carpark, you have to walk all up hill

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we have booked the same weeks next year. The position is excellent as it meant we were near the shop, bakery, pubs and ferry.

Nice place to stay right next to the sea. Can park at the top of the hill, best for people that are able to easily walk/ no mobility problems due to no parking next to the house, small door into second bedroom, and tight spiral stairs to downstairs bedroom

What an amazing location! Close to two pubs and the quay which turns into a small sandy beach at low tide. Ferry to Fowey goes from the key, at most a two minute walk away. Second bedroom was perfect for my two boys. The only bathroom is a very small shower room on the lower floor. Parking is up the hill (I actually lost weight on holiday! And I owRead moree this to the hill). And a bus service runs mid week from the square outside the house. Hide
