A spacious property overlooking the Fowey Estuary, offers a delightful retreat in the quaint village of Polruan.

This cottage is situated in the historical village of Polruan with its many meandering streets. In the village there is Crumpets the tea room, a village shop, two pubs and a working boat yard, which are all a few minutes walk away from the cottage. The village dates back to the 1300s and is the perfect place to unwind and watch the boats come and go in the harbour. Take the passenger ferry over to Fowey and discover some of its hidden gems including Readymoney Beach and St Catherine’s Castle along with its many pubs and restaurants, and a selection of independent shops. Alternatively, there are plenty of boat trips to view South Cornwall from a different perspective. For children, there are a range of activities nearby to indulge in such as Woody’s Mountain Bike park, the Eden Project and Heligan Gardens.

The property is approached through a porch with storage space for walking boots and coats. The large windows and French doors have been designed to maximise the natural light and the estuary views from the open plan lounge, dining area and excellently equipped kitchen. The space benefits from a Woodwarm multi-fuel burner, quality fixtures and fittings including dining table with seating for six, hi-fi system, Bose docking station for an ipod, Smart TV, DVD with BT Sport, video and BT Infinity Wifi. There is also a shower room with WC and a useful utility area with washing machine and tumble dryer. Upstairs on the first floor you will find three spacious bedrooms, one 6ft super-king with TV, one twin (which can be made into a king on request) with TV; both front bedrooms have views over the ever-changing harbour from the large bay windows. The 3rd bedroom is a double with en-suite shower room. There is also a large family bathroom with bath and WC.

Outside is a large private enclosed patio with an outdoor table and chairs to make the most of the estuary views.A luggage drop-off point is available outside the property. Parking can be found in a nearby car park for £25 for a weekly ticket, about a five-minute walk up the hill for the cottage. Beautiful cottage, well equipped, has everything you need. Fantastic views. Very clean & beds really comfortable. Only downside is the very steep hills, and a bit of a trek to the car park. Need good knees!

Overall we were very satisfied with the property and location, though it is abit of a slog to get to the top car park everyday - certainly not recommended for those with weak knees! A lovely little village though and hopefully when Covid restrictions are eased one would be able to get a table in The Lugger to eat at in the evenings

Excellent cottage - superb views, and everything was of a high specification - very impressed. The cottage had been cleaned to a very high standard and the managers of the property even helped me back up the hill with my luggage. I couldnt have asked for more.

The cottage was beautiful, very clean & comfortable for the week, we loved the view from the bedrooms & how easy it was to get around the area... if you are parking in the car park please take cash to pay for the week as there is no card payment facility, make sure you take the ferry to Fowey & explore both Polperro & Looe, the coast path to PolperRead morero from Polruan is very hilly & hard going so be prepared for this if you want to walk there, we really enjoyed our week staying in Mayne Cottage Hide

Beautifully presented and maintained house, with everything you could possibly need for comfort and convenience. Lovely views from the two main bedrooms, and very comfy beds. Just be aware that you need to be fairly fit to get your belongings up and down the steps to the property.

An extremely well equipped cottage throughout with high end appliances, decor etc but the lounge sofas only seat 5. The directions need improving and access is at the bottom of a long steep hill. Not right on the river but pretty close with good views from the top floor.

The ancient fishing village of Polruan lies just across the river from the delightful civil parish of Fowey, a bustling picturesque town packed with quirky coastal shops, art galleries and restaurants. Surrounded by some of the region’s most enchanting countryside, this pair of Cornish cousins have a truly magical feel about them. A short drive away are the nearby harbours of East and West Looe with their quayside restaurants, sandy beaches and wildlife boat trips. The village of Polperro, with its fascinating smuggling history and horse pulled tram is a must-see and Charlestown, with its huge square sail ships is famously known as the key filming location for the hit TV series, Poldark. Children will love winding their way through the scenic coastal landscape with the Bodmin and Wenford Railway and for those brave enough, there is ample opportunity to hunt down the mysterious beast of Bodmin Moor.
