We had a lovely week in Polruan. Lowena House is comfortable, well equipped and has spectacular views across the estuary. However, there was a persistent smell of damp particularly in the kitchen area, which was of concern.

A lovely cottage with great views across the river Fowey. Private parking thats accessible with a medium sized family car is a real bonus. Polruan is a quiet village with two pubs to choose from for drinks and meals.

We loved this pretty house. Very comfortable and a fabulous location for us, 3 adults. The view over the harbour is exactly as it looks on the photos and is wonderful. Great having outside space in the back garden. Little issues we had were dealt with immediately by Holiday Cottages.

Gorgeous house in a perfect location minutes from the ferry, local shop and two pubs. The views over the estuary are stunning. Felt like a real home from home, with nice little touches such as binoculars by the lounge window.

We loved Lowena House. Its location and views are amazing. Although the weather wasnt kind to us, it was great to enjoy a cup of tea overlooking Polruan and Fowey from the lounge. The house clearly has lots of history and the decor is in keeping with that. We were very lucky to be the first guests and would definitely come back. The roads in PolruaRead moren are narrow and the parking space is on Hockens Lane. We recommend studying the map closely so you know where youre going! Overall, a great stay! Hide

The ancient fishing village of Polruan lies just across the river from the delightful civil parish of Fowey, a bustling picturesque town packed with quirky coastal shops, art galleries and restaurants. Surrounded by some of the region’s most enchanting countryside, this pair of Cornish cousins have a truly magical feel about them. Polruan, with its steep hill and charming cottages looking down over the pretty harbour, and Fowey with its timeless maritime charm, are linked together by the Fowey Estuary, a haven of colourful sailing and fishing boats dotted about on the water.

A short drive away are the nearby harbours of East and West Looe with their quayside restaurants, sandy beaches and wildlife boat trips. The village of Polperro, with its fascinating smuggling history and horse pulled tram is a must-see and Charlestown, with its huge square sail ships is famously known as the key filming location for the hit TV series, Poldark. Children will love winding their way through the scenic coastal landscape with the Bodmin and Wenford Railway and for those brave enough, there is ample opportunity to hunt down the mysterious beast of Bodmin Moor.

The beautiful capital town of Truro with its magnificent cathedral and wide boulevards is just over an hour away by car and the newly redeveloped St Austell, home to the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan can be reached within forty-five minutes. Surrounded by gorgeous countryside and nature reserves, lakes and rivers, the area boasts some of the best sailing and watersports in the UK. If you are looking for somewhere remote and unspoilt, but with lots to keep you busy, Polruan is the perfect choice.
