As listed, Hill House was absolutely perfect for multi generation holidays. We had a thoroughly lovely time. Storm Dennis meant we couldn't go out, but the toys, books, games and videos were very welcome.

A fantastic house in a lovely setting. Comfortable, well-equipped and spacious with fantastic views over the estuary. The position on the hill and car parking for one vehicle only means some walking on the steep hill into town is inevitable.

The house was amazingly well equipped, it was comfy and we had lots of space. It was incredibly clean and the little touches on the house, made it even more special. Parking the car was a bit tight, but ok once you got used to it. The walk down and up the hill to the passenger ferry was good exercise! The shops and restaurants in Fowey are fab.

The ancient fishing village of Polruan lies just across the river from the delightful civil parish of Fowey, a bustling picturesque town packed with quirky coastal shops, art galleries and restaurants. Surrounded by some of the region’s most enchanting countryside, this pair of Cornish cousins have a truly magical feel about them. Polruan, with its steep hill and charming cottages looking down over the pretty harbour, and Fowey with its timeless maritime charm, are linked together by the Fowey Estuary, a haven of colourful sailing and fishing boats dotted about on the water.

A short drive away are the nearby harbours of East and West Looe with their quayside restaurants, sandy beaches and wildlife boat trips. The village of Polperro, with its fascinating smuggling history and horse pulled tram is a must-see and Charlestown, with its huge square sail ships is famously known as the key filming location for the hit TV series, Poldark. Children will love winding their way through the scenic coastal landscape with the Bodmin and Wenford Railway and for those brave enough, there is ample opportunity to hunt down the mysterious beast of Bodmin Moor.

The beautiful capital town of Truro with its magnificent cathedral and wide boulevards is just over an hour away by car and the newly redeveloped St Austell, home to the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan can be reached within forty-five minutes. Surrounded by gorgeous countryside and nature reserves, lakes and rivers, the area boasts some of the best sailing and watersports in the UK. If you are looking for somewhere remote and unspoilt, but with lots to keep you busy, Polruan is the perfect choice.
