For walkers, there are plenty of coastal paths to choose from while beach lovers can take their pick of the many beaches close by along the Cornish coast. For a fun day out, there is a range of attractions worth a visit including: The Lost Gardens of Heligan, the Eden Project, Charlestown - one of the filming locations in the TV series Poldark - and Hangloose Adventures.

Step inside from the street into this quirky and stylish cottage, which boasts an array of modern comforts yet is steeped in its rural past throughout. The lounge has a comfy sofa so cosy up and watch your favourite film on the Smart TV in front of the wood burner after a day exploring your surroundings. An opening leads through to the kitchen/diner with seating for all the family making this a great social space. The kitchen area is well equipped with an electric oven and hob, fridge, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine, so create a lazy breakfast whilst planning your day ahead. Heading upstairs to the first floor, you will find the double bedroom with plenty of hanging space. The single bedroom also has an additional pull-out single bed. Completing the cottage inside is the bathroom with a handheld shower over the bath and WC.

Heading outside, to the rear is a storage area and steps which lead to a raised decking area, perfect for al fresco dining or just sitting back and relaxing! We loved staying at Gypsett, super cosy and having a sunny terrace late afternoon to meet friends for a drink was a huge added bonus. Perfect location for Polruan as once youre in, the shop, pubs and quay are never more than two minutes from the front door. Helpful as well to have a secure space to leave the kayak etc at the back.

Polruan is a spectacular place with the best view which felt almost Mediterranean. The cottage sits in a great location, close to local amenities, pubs and the ferry to Fowey. It is a 5 minute walk from the village car park, we never had trouble finding a spot to park in and charges were very reasonable (25 for a week), but the walk is very steep. The ancient fishing village of Polruan lies just across the river from the delightful civil parish of Fowey, a bustling picturesque town packed with quirky coastal shops, art galleries and restaurants. Surrounded by some of the region’s most enchanting countryside, this pair of Cornish cousins have a truly magical feel about them. Polruan, with its steep hill and charming cottages looking down over the pretty harbour, and Fowey with its timeless maritime charm, are linked together by the Fowey Estuary, a haven of colourful sailing and fishing boats dotted about on the water.

A short drive away are the nearby harbours of East and West Looe with their quayside restaurants, sandy beaches and wildlife boat trips. The village of Polperro, with its fascinating smuggling history and horse pulled tram is a must-see and Charlestown, with its huge square sail ships is famously known as the key filming location for the hit TV series, Poldark. Children will love winding their way through the scenic coastal landscape with the Bodmin and Wenford Railway and for those brave enough, there is ample opportunity to hunt down the mysterious beast of Bodmin Moor.

The beautiful capital town of Truro with its magnificent cathedral and wide boulevards is just over an hour away by car and the newly redeveloped St Austell, home to the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan can be reached within forty-five minutes. Surrounded by gorgeous countryside and nature reserves, lakes and rivers, the area boasts some of the best sailing and watersports in the UK. If you are looking for somewhere remote and unspoilt, but with lots to keep you busy, Polruan is the perfect choice.
