A tranquil and romantic retreat, situated on the ground floor of a converted barn, within the hamlet of Llandefaelog Fach, close to vibrant Brecon and the magical Brecon Beacons National Park.

Escape from it all with a stay at this appealing, holiday cottage for two. The one-bedroom property nestles on the ground floor of a carefully converted stone barn, on a smallholding, with another cottage on it too. A great romantic retreat, it also makes a base from which to explore the surrounding Welsh countryside. Visit Brecon, 4.5 miles away, with its shops, restaurants, cafes and galleries. Find fabulous walks beside the River Usk and along the canal from the town. Go hill walking, mountain biking, climbing and caving in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Wander down to the village pub, less than 0.5 miles away, or stop for a welcome drink after a long hike before returning home.

Up a few steps, enter into the apartment to find a homely touch and traditional decor, with features like flagstone floors. Settle down on the comfortable seating in your inviting lounge, where the wood burner can be fired up to cast a cosy glow whenever it is cold outside. Choose a book, play a board game or watch a DVD or the TV, which comes with Sky. Open the French doors on warm days so you can wander out into the sunshine on the patio to relax out there instead. The kitchen has an electric oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, and washer/dryer. As darkness falls, enjoy studying the night sky through the antique brass telescope before heading off to your Super-king-size bedroom (which can be converted into a twin if requested), where more French doors can be opened up if the weather permits. The adjoining bathroom comes with a large bath, hand-held shower, separate shower unit and WC.

Spend warm afternoons out in your private gravelled garden, down a step. Enjoy a cup of tea at the table or light the BBQ and take in the views while your supper sizzles. You’ll find plenty of parking at the property.

A well appointed cottage that is very comfortable and full of character. The rural surroundings are very relaxing and the farm cat, hens and guinea fowl add to the atmosphere on this picturesque farm complex. The host is most welcoming and helpful too.

Such a lovely cottage in the most beautiful relaxing setting, so lovely to see the animals roaming freely around the farm. We enjoyed visiting the town of Brecon with some lovely independent shops and walks along the canal. The cottage is in a great location for visiting the area of Brecon Beacons. We loved our stay. Thank you.

Duck cottage is large, well equipped and very comfortable. A lovely, quiet, rural location although within easy reach of Brecon where there is a good selection of shops.

We had a lovely break. with warm hospitality. The cottage is really tasteful with a nice open plan kitchen/living room with a cosy fire. The bedroom is lovely and spacious. I liked the doors leading out to a patio which is a perfect suntrap for reading. The countryside around is just stunning. I would definitely recommend.

Lovely cottage set in a beautiful position. It was great watching the black sheep, chickens in the field and watching the squirrel that came and walked along the wall most days.

We had a fantastic week at Duck Cottage and would not hesitate to book another stay in future. The cottage itself was spacious, superbly well-appointed, and a very easy place to relax and feel at home. The secluded location just outside Brecon provided an ideal base for exploring the area, while also being close to shops and amenities. A lovely spacious cottage, spotlessly clean and located just off a quiet B road between Brecon and Builth Wells. All rooms were attractively furnished with a wide range of facilities. The wood burning stove came with a very generous supply of dry wood. Shower in full working order. WiFi was excellent. We enjoyed gorgeous weather so the outside seaRead moreting area was a big bonus and a very pleasant suntrap. A large flock of red kites greeted us each day. Patrick was a gentleman, a warm welcome and help was at hand when the whole area had a very short electricity problem. Ten minute drive to Brecon. Another 15 to 20 minutes will get you to carparks for walking Pen y Fan. A minor annoyance was the electric hob which took time to heat up the food. With beautiful clear night skies on two nights, we had been hoping to make use of the brass telescope but that is no longer available and the cottage information needs to be updated. Hide

Very comfortable cottage. Description was not clear that there was another let above so some noise when they were moving around. Pity the local footpaths were poorly maintained and several blocked either by fallen trees or barbed wire fences, very frustrating trying to walk locally.
