This 150-year-old semi-detached stone cottage is situated close to the water in West Street with uninterrupted views of the estuary from all the main rooms.

Polruan is an historic village famous for its boat building heritage. Perfectly positioned on the Fowey river estuary, which is a thriving centre for fishing, seafaring, shipbuilding and agriculture. The villages remoteness gives the area an unspoilt charm with its narrow streets better suited to horse and cart then modern day cars, flights of slate steps twist between the houses. There are two village pubs and a passenger ferry that takes you across to neighbouring town of Fowey. Further afield there are plenty of places to explore, why not visit the tall ships at Charlestown, take the brewery tour in St Austell or visit the Eden project or the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Visit Lanhydrock House or take the dog for a run at the trials at Cardinham Woods near Bodmin.

This spacious cottage is spread over three levels with two staircases. Entering the cottage on the middle floor you will find a twin bedded room with stunning views across the River Fowey. Along the hallway is a handy utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer this also leads through to the shower room with corner shower and WC. On the middle floor there are two separate staircases to upper floors. By the utility room there is a small stair way leading to one of the double bedrooms with beautiful river views.

On the lower floor there is a kitchen/diner with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. The dining area is at the end of the room the table can seat six comfortably with views over the river and a patio door leading out to the  garden. Heading back through to the lounge with two large sofas, wood- burner, TV and DVD. You can't miss  the stunning views from the sliding patio doors which lead out to the patio. Heading up the larger of the two staircases, you will find the master double bedroom with panoramic views and an en-suite bathroom with hand held shower over bath and WC.

Heading outside from the lounge and kitchen is the stone patio and small garden the perfect spot to watch the world go by on the river.Due to the location of the cottage there is limited access to cottage by car. A luggage drop off point is approx. 50 yards from the cottage. There is no private parking at the cottage, however there is a large pay and display carpark at the top of the village about a 5 - 8 minute walk away up the hill from the cottage.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

We found Chytor to be clean and comfortable. The view of the estuary from all of the rooms was fantastic. The proximity of the two pubs in the village and the passenger ferry to Fowey made up for the narrow roads that you have to negotiate when approaching the village. The climb to the car park if using the steps/path through the village is very stRead morerenuous and I recommend taking the longer route via the road. Good walks from the cottage along the coastal path to Lantic Bay and around the estuary. Hide

Cottage in lovely area. Outstanding views. Requires a bit of TLC. The cottage had everything you need. Book again if there was a bit of TLC.

This is a lovely house with fantastic views from every window. And from the garden too. Watch the harbour life; see the life boat going out, the china clay boats and the Troys and classic boats racing. Great binoculars are provided. The configuration of the house means you are not on top of each other, but meal times are easy and the 2 doors into tRead morehe garden means no congestion when gathering in the kitchen. My favourite house! Hide

The ancient fishing village of Polruan lies just across the river from the delightful civil parish of Fowey, a bustling picturesque town packed with quirky coastal shops, art galleries and restaurants. Surrounded by some of the region’s most enchanting countryside, this pair of Cornish cousins have a truly magical feel about them. Polruan, with its steep hill and charming cottages looking down over the pretty harbour, and Fowey with its timeless maritime charm, are linked together by the Fowey Estuary, a haven of colourful sailing and fishing boats dotted about on the water.

A short drive away are the nearby harbours of East and West Looe with their quayside restaurants, sandy beaches and wildlife boat trips. The village of Polperro, with its fascinating smuggling history and horse pulled tram is a must-see and Charlestown, with its huge square sail ships is famously known as the key filming location for the hit TV series, Poldark. Children will love winding their way through the scenic coastal landscape with the Bodmin and Wenford Railway and for those brave enough, there is ample opportunity to hunt down the mysterious beast of Bodmin Moor.

The beautiful capital town of Truro with its magnificent cathedral and wide boulevards is just over an hour away by car and the newly redeveloped St Austell, home to the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan can be reached within forty-five minutes. Surrounded by gorgeous countryside and nature reserves, lakes and rivers, the area boasts some of the best sailing and watersports in the UK. If you are looking for somewhere remote and unspoilt, but with lots to keep you busy, Polruan is the perfect choice.
