This detached property with a secluded garden situated in an enviable position in the centre of the village and near to the local shop. With stunning views over the river towards Fowey.

The property is in a great position for excellent coastal walks, local pubs providing food and the Polruan Ferry are just minutes’ walk away. Polruan is an ancient fishing village famous for its boat building heritage. Perfectly positioned on the Fowey river estuary, which is a thriving centre for fishing, seafaring, shipbuilding and agriculture. This remoteness gives the area an unspoilt charm with its narrow streets and alleyways where flights of slate steps twist between the houses. Further afield there are plenty of places to visit, why not visit the tall ships at Charlestown, take the brewery tour in St Austell or visit the Eden project or the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Take the dog for a coastal walk to Lantic Bay Beach.

Entering the cottage on the 1st floor into the delightful hallway, with stairs leading downstairs to the lounge and kitchen area either side of the staircase. The lounge is light and airy with large sofa, 2 armchairs and an electric feature fire. From the lounge there is the conservatory/ sun room, with beautiful views over the harbour, just perfect to sit back, relax and read a good book. The newly refurbished kitchen/diner is contemporary and well-equipped with electric oven and hob, fridge/freeze microwave and dishwasher. Adjoining the kitchen is a utility room, with WC and washing machine. After a day of exploring the coastline, climb the stairs and retreat to the bedrooms, there is a king-size bedroom with beautiful views over the harbour and a family bedroom with double bed and an additional single bed, with views over the village and the river. To complete the first floor there is a family bathroom with freestanding bath, separate corner shower and WC.

Heading outside from the conservatory you will find a small patio area with seating and grassed area. Perfect to relax and enjoy the view with a cool beverage. Due to the location of the cottage there is NO access to the cottage by car. A luggage drop off point is approx. 250 yards from the cottage. Please note there is a sloping lane up to the cottage.

  • Many of the amenities, ferries and cottages in Polruan are accessed via slopes/ steps some of which can be steep. Please contact us if you have specific requirements.

We cant wait to come back & stay here again, we really liked staying here as a family. The house is well equipped with everything you might need during your stay. The view from the garden is fantastic & we spent most evenings sat out watching the bats silhouetted against the back drop of fowey harbour while listening to the owls hoot in the distancRead moree, simply magical. Definitely use the bag drop of point near the house when arriving & leaving as it is a long walk to the car park. 10/10 perfect. Hide

Beautiful house in a blissful location! Had wonderful week, particularly enjoyed sitting in the conservatory in the evening watching all the boats. Chapel House was lovely and reflected the care taken in creating a homely, relaxing environment to spend time in. The garden was a real highlight, with beautiful views of the estuary and over to Fowey. We would happily return.

It was lovely staying at Chappel House. The conservatory really adds to the house with its stunning views. A nice place to eat an evening meal if not out on the patio. Very well equipped. A wonderful cottage to stay in at any time of year; comfortable well equipped and with amazing (SW facing) views over estuary and Fowey. We come back every year for an annual "re-charge of the batteries".

We have just returned home from a restful, peaceful week in this house. The location was perfect; in the heart of polruan and yet quiet and private. The outside area is lovely for a meal, or just a cup of tea to watch the estuary. The house had everything we needed.

Its the second time we have stayed at Chapel house and loved the the accommodation with its stunning estuary views although access to the property can be a little daunting due to the steep access lanes. Potential guest should be made aware that the car park is a fair way up hill from the property.

The ancient fishing village of Polruan lies just across the river from the delightful civil parish of Fowey, a bustling picturesque town packed with quirky coastal shops, art galleries and restaurants. Surrounded by some of the region’s most enchanting countryside, this pair of Cornish cousins have a truly magical feel about them. Polruan, with its steep hill and charming cottages looking down over the pretty harbour, and Fowey with its timeless maritime charm, are linked together by the Fowey Estuary, a haven of colourful sailing and fishing boats dotted about on the water.

A short drive away are the nearby harbours of East and West Looe with their quayside restaurants, sandy beaches and wildlife boat trips. The village of Polperro, with its fascinating smuggling history and horse pulled tram is a must-see and Charlestown, with its huge square sail ships is famously known as the key filming location for the hit TV series, Poldark. Children will love winding their way through the scenic coastal landscape with the Bodmin and Wenford Railway and for those brave enough, there is ample opportunity to hunt down the mysterious beast of Bodmin Moor.
