The location of the property, overlooking the creek and the river back to Fowey is fabulous. The views from the lounge and the main bedroom were excellent. Slight challenge to find but once there, well worth it. It is handily placed for both the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. The coastal walks close by were stunning. We found many goRead moreod places to eat and managed to fit in most of the Cornish delicacies. The welcome box of scones, jam & cream was very much appreciated. Hide

Great location, we had a wonderful time. Freezer door was broken which we reported twice but nothing was done about it. Could do with some more seating in the upper garden as if both the apartments want to sit out you can not as there is only two, two seater bistro sets

The apartment itself was sufficient for our needs, it would have been nice to have a fan, a notice of where the cutlery draw was, an extractor fan in the bathroom and obscured glass in the bathroom window should be considered. We coped without a boat and so long as you like walking as we do then it's only 15-20 minutes from the apartment to the ferRead morery along a public footpath. The welcome pack of scones, jam & cream, milk, tea, coffee & sugar was much appreciated. Hide

Bosun loft was as lovely place to stay, spotless and we'll equipped. Access is a problem though especially for large cars due to overgrown hedges making the narrow lanes even worse. Respray needed now unfortunately, so a very expensive break.

An isolated destination, but we love it! A boat from Mr Hunkin at Fowey River Boats is a must unless you have your own. A lovely garden at the back of the property to sit in peace and quiet.

Lovely appartement although on the small side, no dishwasher so be prepared. Access might be an issue for some as it is via a number of metal staircases. Absolutely quiet during the night, maybe not always at daytime due to work going on at the sand/stone plant on the opposite shore. Lovely view over the water.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful location overlooking the River Fowey. Spotlessly clean. Would recommend hiring a boat, which we didn't do but would next time to avoid the steep walk into Fowey and restrictions of the ferry. Will definitely return.

We had excellent time at at Bosuns Loft At Mixtow Creek It's very quiet the only noise you hear is seagulls. It's bit remote and the road leading there is narrow, so traveling by car it's not ideal but you can manage as there is hardly any cars on the road. Nearly everyone had rented small boats to go back and forth to Fowey but we couldn't becauseRead more of our young children it would have been risky. We will when we get back in couple of years. The ancient fishing village of Polruan lies just across the river from the delightful civil parish of Fowey, a bustling picturesque town packed with quirky coastal shops, art galleries and restaurants. Surrounded by some of the region’s most enchanting countryside, this pair of Cornish cousins have a truly magical feel about them. Polruan, with its steep hill and charming cottages looking down over the pretty harbour, and Fowey with its timeless maritime charm, are linked together by the Fowey Estuary, a haven of colourful sailing and fishing boats dotted about on the water.

A short drive away are the nearby harbours of East and West Looe with their quayside restaurants, sandy beaches and wildlife boat trips. The village of Polperro, with its fascinating smuggling history and horse pulled tram is a must-see and Charlestown, with its huge square sail ships is famously known as the key filming location for the hit TV series, Poldark. Children will love winding their way through the scenic coastal landscape with the Bodmin and Wenford Railway and for those brave enough, there is ample opportunity to hunt down the mysterious beast of Bodmin Moor.

The beautiful capital town of Truro with its magnificent cathedral and wide boulevards is just over an hour away by car and the newly redeveloped St Austell, home to the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan can be reached within forty-five minutes. Surrounded by gorgeous countryside and nature reserves, lakes and rivers, the area boasts some of the best sailing and watersports in the UK. If you are looking for somewhere remote and unspoilt, but with lots to keep you busy, Polruan is the perfect choice.
