Riverside Family Holidays in Cornwall
Cornwall is a beautiful place to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year and there’s plenty going on across the county throughout December for all ages. Why not book your festive break with family and friends at Midships Cottage in Polruan and spend Christmas in Cornwall by the river, or stay at 4 Elm Cottages in Polruan with a group of friends and ring in the New Year on the raised patio watching fireworks over the river, or down at the Quay. With Christmas markets, light displays, ice skating, visits to see Father Christmas, and plenty of mulled cider and mince pies, you’ll be spoilt for choice this Christmas.
Feed the reindeer, go ice skating, meet Father Christmas, and enter the Enchanted Rainforest Biome for the Yule-tide Ark-ive and enjoy live music, theatre performances and a journey through the winter wonderland.
Join Santa and his little helpers in the magic grotto aboard the steam hauled train and take a festive journey through the Cornish countryside.
If you’re feeling brave and want to work off all of those mince pies, head to one of the organised Christmas or Boxing Day swim in the sea events. The chilly dips are organised at beaches in Bude, Sennen and Gwithian on Christmas day, and on Boxing Day at Charlestown.
Towns and villages across Cornwall will be lit up from the end of November but there are a few that are worth popping to see such as the Christmas lights that are dotted around the waterfront and in the water itself in Mousehole and Padstow.
Snow is guaranteed this Christmas as Truro transforms into a winter wonderland. There will be a snowball throwing area, Cornish choirs, food stalls, and characters from the Frozen film will be meeting little guests.
What better way to ring in the arrival of 2016 than with friends, family and festive cheer in Cornwall. Looe, Polperro, Newquay and St Ives are all popular places to dress up in costumes and enjoy fireworks and celebrations all night long.
